Artworks from the west of Ireland.

Welcome to my website. As a painter I relish the opportunity to apply myself to a diverse range of practices. The work shown here reflects my ethos that the craft of an artist should be employed in many different areas.

Whilst landscape and portrait painting for exhibition is the backbone of my practice I also enjoy the discipline of illustration and the scale of mural painting. Additionally I have created many artworks for museums and heritage centres which involve working with experts in different fields. All of these experiences feed back into my more personal work.

I am blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the west of Ireland: between the sea and the mountains of Connemara. This area and it's people offer an endless source of inspiration. In 2002 I co-founded The Oilean Project, which is an on-going artistic exploration of the many abandoned islands around the Irish coast. These places are precious environments full of wildlife, endlessly changing skies and dramatic seas. The remains of ancient settlements throw our human journey on this planet into sharp relief. The logistics and day to day living and working in these extraordinary places renews my connection with the natural environment.
